SEO 2010 Is Page Rank a Factor in SERPs?
Google Page Rank is one of the old SEO Myths that continues to be misunderstood. The Google Toolbar Page Rank is merely a metric that measures the amount of all inbound links minus all outbound links on a single URL or web page. The numeric number that Google assigns to an individual page is rarely updated in the Google Toolbar.
So is Google Page Rank a factor in one’s keyword Search Engine Ranking Position?
Directly no. It is merely a metric of measurement, just like Alexa ratings give an indication of popularity and traffic to an individual domain. Indirectly, the Google page rank gives a numeric value of links pointing to that individual web page. Since links are still a major contributing factor to ones overall SERP, it is the links that are importance, and not the Green Bar known as Page Rank.
