What’s more Important in SEO Links or Content

What’s more Important in SEO Links or Content?

This is a great debate about SEO when it comes to on site content vs In bound Links. Matt Cutts attempts to spell it out for us in the video below.

Having proper On site SEO is important, and it’s not just having the best Content. There are numerous cases where content is superb, but the lack of focused on site SEO with title tags, H1 tags, internal keyword navigation links, causes a less than great content site to rank above said good content site. Knowing the simple SEO on site rules, applying them to your web pages can make a world of difference in your SERPS.

Good Content at times will received links from other sources. But don’t count on it. Google seems to think of the altruistic approach that that other webmasters will LINK to you if you show and distribute great content. Sorry, but that is few and far between unless you are already extremely popular or in a good ‘ol boy network of friends.

Therefore, you must have a significant, structured link building campaign to substantiate your rankings. You will hear a bunch about link building, but the best approach is diversity. Utilize what’s out there and don’t become to top heavy by only utilizing one type.

A simple link building plan:
1) Directory Submissions – ( 1 and done)
2) Reciprocal links ( a few in themed category will work)
3) Article Distribution ( with link in resource box)
4) Create External Web 2.0 or Blog sites ( links point back to your site)
5) Social Bookmarking
6) Create additional Web pages or Add Blog to your site
7) Aggregate RSS Feeds of sites that have RSS ( web 2.0, blogs, etc that point to your site)

Low level link building in Comments, Forums, etc may bring traffic but is not significant in your SEO. So balance the efforts of comments, forum signatures etc with the more traditional valuable links to gain your SEO advantage.

If you need an SEO Plan to drive visitors to your site. Contact SEO Company Big Oak and tell them you came from Eric’s Blog. You might get me as your SEO Rep and then the fun begins.

Yes Google Is putting more weight on brands in rankings!

Matt Cutts opened the floor to questions a week ago in the new Google Beta Moderator section which allows us mere mortals to ask questions of the Google Gods. Matt Cutts took the question and did a video.

The main question on everyone’s mind was the recent SERPS changes that appeared to show more Branded Urls in the search results that didn’t usually have the Normal Role Model SEO Factors.

Cutts Confirmed that the Branding of Sites was part of over 300-400 Changes in the Google Algorithm changes made recently.

He down played the change and gave the same Google Rhetoric about making a good site and being an authority. However in some niches I track, sites are getting top 5 results with little to no site SEO and No discernible backlinks. The game i changing a bit.

If Branding become an issue in your SERPS, then the Brand as part of SERP Algo portion is more then likely based upon overall traffic results. So it comes down to Getting Traffic to your site, Getting qualified traffic to you site, having a lot of direct traffic and people searching for your company or web url name directly. Hence the Chrome Browser
