Video Voice Recognition Could mean SEO Implications
If you have not seen the new addition to the IGoogle Home page that includes Video Voice Recognition, then you are in for a treat. If you go to Elections Video Search part of the IGoogle gadgets you can install the tool to see the voice recognition tool in action. It is currently for Political Speeches but none the less impressive.
“Google has added speech recognition capability in some YouTube videos that enables you to search for text spoken in these videos“.
It has been stated that “Google is quickly adopting DSP technologies for search purposes. This move is after it launched 1-800-GOOG-411 service, i.e. Google Voice Search.”
But what are the SEO implications?
If Google or should I say when, because I have been preaching for years about Google ultimate plan or goal; When Google adds Video Voice recognition, along with the current News Results, Product Searches, and their Sponsored PPC Adwords to the Keyword Search Results more than 50% of the organic search term are lost below the fold. Currently 42% of all searchers click on the number 1 organic search result, and the percentage decrease as one goes down the page.
With the addition of this technology and current Google expansion information tools into the forefront of generic search results, the basic website result is being more and more deemphasized. The %42 percent rate will decline even further for the Golden Number 1 ranking in Google for a Search Term.
The ultimate goal of Google, that I eluded to previous to to become a Broadcast Network, rather than search engine foundation. I made this statement public back in 2005 and all the new improvements and technology makes this prognostic prediction even more foretelling.
As a Broadcast Network, Google will and is competing for viewers along with the traditional money players NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox. Google’s technology, vision, and appeal to the youthful generations that have now grown up on the internet will eventually surpass the former 4th estate into new horizons.
