Banking is still Viable and Visible

In our current troubled economy, the nation and the world has sat back and watched as international bank after international bank has folded. From what we see on television, it seems like the entire banking industry is in trouble.

But that’s not really the case at all. It seems that the economic troubles, which started on Wall Street and have sense rolled over to the investment banks, hasn’t affected local Virginia Banking. The community banks, make tend to invest far less aggressively than those Goldman Sachs, or J.P. Morgan Chase. These local, commercial banks deal mostly with savings and investments of people like you and me, and didn’t get themselves tied up in mortgages.

In fact, many of my local Richmond banks are not only doing well, they still have money to lend. The numbers seem to support my bankers too. 2008 saw fewer local banks fail than in the recent years leading up to it. While the investment economy seems to be in trouble, the local commercial banks are still doing strong.
