Around the Net in 30 minutes 2nd week August 08

I am going to attempt to keep you informed on important items, tidbits, tricks, and stuff with a new this new Category on my blog.

There is always so much happening, and hard for some people to catch up, so I will keep you informed about special items that are interesting and important. (at least in my opinion)

Not major news, but interesting Item One.

Frank Kerns one of the top marketing guru’s opened up “Mass Control” website with video tips on increasing sales and conversions. In his first video he talked about Sales letter and the straight forward approach for conversion. He gave the 3 simple tips that was passed down to him.

When writing a sales letter, you should hit only 3 major point that include:
1) Here’s what I got
2) Here’s what it will do for you
3) Here’s what I want you to do next

In his second video he talks about expanding the Open Rate for your email list or auto-responders based upon the headline. He explores the “rubbernecking” phenomenon where people are obsessed or intrigued by negative events or “bad news”. His open rate for email headlines with the simple title “bad news” was opened significantly more than a headline offering “bonus” or “free stuff”.

Extremely interesting, I guess our in boxes will be filled with ‘bad news” for the next month from people taking the advice literally. I suggest being a bit more creative, since people with now see “bad news” and say “Awe the Kern Technique” and it will have the opposite effect.

I have always been creative with Headline titles. Use your imagination folks. A quick brainstorm
“Opps I messed up…”
“For your eyes only – then delete this ASAP”
“What they don’t want you to know”
“There is no secret, well…”

Not major news, but interesting Item Two.

Twitter is awesome. Some say it is a waste of time. Oh but if you use it correctly. In July I started using Twitter, really using twitter.

From just my twitter activity, I have gotten the opportunity to Beta Test two phenomenal software programs, gotten answers to questions in less time it would take me to search for them and find them on Google, made contacts up the line that I would more than likely have never met. Learned about new releases from Google from the horse’s mouth so to speak.

Remember the phrase 6 degrees of separation? With twitter this is a true reality and at times I feel I am only 3 people away who I want to get a hold of. I am going to test this theroy as part of a fun experiment. I will make a new post about it and we can all have some fun.

I also got my partner to join twitter.
To follow me @bigebiz to follow my intelligent partner @edcharkow.

Not major news, but interesting Item Three.

Have you seen all the new releases in Google? Make sure you check out Google Labs, there are tons of things that can help your business. Besides Keyword tool external Google Knol Google also has a Beta Version of Google Ad Planner

Google is the king, and it’s always smart to see what Google is up to, and also use some of their Free Stuff to help your business.
